Happy Spooky Ag Fact Friday!

Equine Science got hands-on (and icing-on) today. Students had to draw and label the parts of the horse hoof using icing on a sugar cookie—knowledge first, dessert second.

Principles of Ag wrapped up our parliamentary procedure unit with a candy salad activity. Students had to correctly use motions and debate rules to build the salad—order in the classroom before candy in the bowl.

Veterinary Medicine students put their anatomy knowledge to the test today by sculpting animals from play-doh and labeling them using correct directional terminology.

Our Seniors traveled north today to Lawton, OK to visit and tour Cameron University. It was an awesome day! We learned about campus life, various clubs & organizations, Cameron Athletics, E-Sports, and different departments including Agriculture, Communications, Criminal Justice, Health Sciences and Music. Kids in Intro to Culinary actually shook things up in the classroom. We took heavy cream and shook it to make homemade butter, added some lemon to make butter milk to incorporate biscuits. Student got to sample what they made and apply it to biscuits and sausage gravy.

Ag Fact Friday #8!
The Texas Red Grapefruit is our state fruit, and it’s proof that everything tastes better when it’s grown under the Lone Star.

Teachers never stop learning, especially our CTE crew! Ms. Wood, Ms. Eudy, Ms. Leviston, and Mr. Hodges attended the CTAT (Career and Technical Association of Texas) New CTE Teacher Academy at Weatherford High School today! They covered everything from programs of study and IBCs to CTSOs, lesson planning, and classroom management. So many great ideas are heading back to City View!

Come help support our City View Culinary Arts Program as well as our local food bank Wednesday October 15th from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Forum on Speedway. Soup: Chicken Gnocchi with Cheddar Biscuits Dessert: Coconut Cream, Chocolate, Pumpkin Spice, and Strawberry Mini Cupcakes. The students are working hard to prep for 500 samples and be sure their food and hospitality are on point. Hope to see you there!

From seedlings to some serious cash!

Students in the Intro to sUAS class took flight this week, completing mock drone missions that included capturing aerial data to create a Gaussian splat 3D map of the exterior of City View High School.

They’re gaining real-world experience in drone imaging, data visualization, and FAA Part 107 operations, all right here on campus! 💪 #CityViewISD #DroneEducation #CityViewMustangs

Students spent last week learning about taking a whole chicken, fabricating, mirepoix, using it for a chicken stock and making an appetizer, soup, and 2 different entrees. Students used math to create a menu based off of their ingredients to come up with a food cost, food cost percentage, and incorporate that into a menu price for all 4 items. In the pictures are them making these items over a 2 day span. They learned that 1 chicken can feed 12-20 servings for around $12-$20 based off of additional items used. Students did a great job for their first time in the kitchen!
