Yesterday our 7th grade Teen Topics students participated in a real world financial simulation through Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Students were assigned careers based on their interests, calculated monthly income, and built a budget that included taxes, housing, insurance, loans, credit cards, and charitable giving. Just as important, they learned how to protect themselves online by being aware of what they engage with through gaming and social media, understanding digital risks, and making wise choices that safeguard their identity and future. A heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers who gave their time to make this experience possible. Your investment in our students truly matters. Teen Topics is committed to developing leaders of character and competence who are prepared for the future.

Online Safety
Budgeting is hard.
What’s insurance?
Electricity costs how much?
I don’t have any money left!
No paparazzi!
Teens are easy targets for identity theft because their clean or nonexistent credit gives criminals a blank slate.
On Tuesday, our Seniors had the opportunity to listen to Angela Ward, Director of Cosmetology and Barber at Vernon College. She provided such great information about their program, the requirements, and the hands-on experience. We might have a few future cosmetologists and barbers on our hands! 💈💇🏽‍♀️💇🏻‍♂️💅 #SeniorSuccess #LifeAfterHighSchool #CityViewMustangs

Learning never tasted so good! 🍦 Our Principles of Ag students wrapped up their dairy cattle and dairy products unit by making ice cream in a bag, connecting classroom concepts to real-world dairy production through hands-on learning.

National CTE Month is a time to celebrate how Career and Technical Education prepares students for life beyond the classroom. At City View ISD, CTE programs provide students with hands-on learning, industry-aligned instruction, and real-world experiences that lead to careers, certifications, college, and military readiness. Our Career and Technical Student Organizations play a critical role in this work. Throughout the month of February, City View CTE students and teachers are actively traveling, competing, and representing our district across the region. This first week of February, FFA students competed at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, and District SkillsUSA competitions take place later this week. These experiences extend learning beyond the classroom and allow students to apply their skills in authentic, high-level settings. Proud of our efforts this week for our Prostart simulated contest! This was the best contest ready performance we have had at this time of the year. 2 months to tweak items, plating, etc and go from 3 teams down to 2 in our March trip to Waco. 8 teams in the district competing and we placed 1st, 3rd, and 4th. We did open up to see the best team in the state (Ben Barber) to make it a regional competition that won that aspect of the competition. Excited to see where they will finish in the next 2 months and ready to make some adjustments and see what the kids can do. City View 2 - Mediterranean with a scallop appetizer, lamb and risotto entree, and poached pear dessert. City View 1 - Italian with mozzarellacheeses sticks appetizer, chicken fettuccine Alfredo entree, and cream brulee dessert. City View 3 - Mexican with roasted corn elote appetizer, carne asada tacos, and sopapilla cheesecake.
