Throughout this past semester, our FFA pig showmen have been putting in the work, no matter if it's early or late, a school day or not, to make sure their animals are taken care of and ready when county show and all the majors roll around this upcoming semester! We have made multiple trips to jackpot shows to get in some practice, got to grow in our knowledge of the swine industry, and gain some good memories throughout all of the hard work and time put into these projects! Throughout these projects, kids get the opportunity to not only learn how to properly take care of an animal, but also how to manage their time properly, be a good leader and showman, and just be responsible! Here are a few snippets of what some of our weekends consisted of:💙

Guest chef came by to visit to help teach a few classes on biscuits and gravy to finish our breakfast unit. Our advanced class got to work with appetizers and many products they can incorporate into multiple dishes including baked chicken wings and scallops.
Happy with their efforts! Principles of hospitality just took their introductory safety and sanitation exam to begin working with baking to start the next semester.

In Equine Science we had a mock Horse Judging Contest.
Grand Champion and First in her class was Anna Tillman.
Reserve Grand Champion and First in her class was Kasidee Regouby.
Congratulations.

Our floral design students got to celebrate that Winter Break and Christmas are right around the corner by creating a winter-themed arrangement today! If you look closely, you can notice that not one arrangement looks the same as another, this is because they got to express their own creativity today by designing their own arrangement setup and adding their own flare to it! So proud of these kids and their hard work!❄️💙

Students in culinary arts have been learning information over the breakfast unit. We had an opportunity to work in small groups making eggs Benedict from a homemade hollandaise sauce. Students were engaged and worked well in the kitchen.

Yesterday, some of our FFA members got to go to the Wichita District Banquet to celebrate the successes of this past semester in LDEs, listen to some awesome talent, and enjoy some great food and fellowship together! We have loved this semester and can't wait to see the fun that the CDE season brings!

We are thrilled to share that some of our amazing FFA students recently received their very own FFA jackets, generously provided by the Live Like Johnny Organization! This iconic blue corduroy symbolizes pride, leadership, and the hard work these students put into their FFA journey.

We want to say THANK YOU to the Live Like Johnny Organization for supporting our future leaders and making this milestone possible. Your generosity truly makes a difference in shaping bright futures!

Students learned this week about Thanksgiving with traditional and non traditional varieties.
Each double block broke into 5-6 different areas to work as a team(family) to produce our version of family Thanksgiving.
Items produced were mashed potatoes and turkey gravy made from a homemade stock, turkey seasoned or brined, Mac and cheese, cranberry sauce, homemade dressing, and choice of their own 2 desserts. I was very excited to see man of these groups work as teams to produce one quality full meal! They then worked together for one picture of their meal to showcase their talents in presenting and decorating skills.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Egg-xamination ... Students in Animal Science and Livestock Production had a Thanksgiving Agricultural Production lesson this week that wrapped up in examining eggs for freshness. They compared normal shell eggs to cracked shell eggs and observed that there is no difference in quality of the two if they're both fresh.
