This past week, City View FFA got the opportunity to go the 96th Annual Texas FFA State Convention in Houston! During this trip, students got to attend workshops to help grow their leadership skills, compete in Quiz Bowl, be involved in Courtesy Corps where they help throughout various branches of convention, and Madelyn Hopkins was an FFA Ambassador where she assisted special guests and sponsors. We also got to throw in some fun activities like going to an Astros game, attending a concert, a fun dress up night, and playing card games in our down time! It was a very busy week but so rewarding in the end! Texas FFA overcame the storm and helped make this week one to remember for the kids!💙💛

Great Job 👏 on these students today to work as a group of 3 to make an appetizer, entree, and dessert in 1 hour. There was a homemade pizza out of a potato dough, fettuccini noodles, and dumplings all made from scratch from various groups. Sampling these plates makes me smile because these kids rocked the day!!

Intro to Culinary students have been learning this week about chicken, starches, sides, and sauces as they go along with a meal or entree. We got to showcase some of that knowledge in a culinary contest for them to make a dish in 1 hour and some very good results were turned in. Most groups even found the time to make a fruit drink during their hour with all the teamwork and skills they could use.

Intro to Culinary students have been learning about cold drinks and coffee and put some of their talents on display making one fruit inspired drink and one coffee inspired drink. They learned how to make whipped cream, caramel syrup, chocolate syrup, cold brew, and puréed fruit for drinks. Great job this week!

Congratulations is due for the City View FFA Range and Pasture Team! They have worked to achieve the 4th Best Team in the Nation, that includes the United States plus the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Two members were top 10 individuals and all four of our City View FFA members were in the top 25. Daniel Sawyer was 3rd overall individual, Madelynn Hopkins was 6th high individual, Giovanni Portillo was 22nd and Matias Portillo was 25th in the entire Country. There are 9,163 total Ag Chapters and 945,988 FFA members that represent the National FFA Organization. FFA competes from all sizes of schools and from all across the country, so please let these students know what an amazing feat this is and what an accomplishment this is for them.  Congratulations to the City View FFA Range and Pasture Team!!!
