🌟 What an amazing day at City View ISD as we proudly hosted the Special Olympics! 🌟
Special Olympics is such a powerful organization that brings people together to celebrate the strength, heart, and determination of athletes with intellectual disabilities. It’s always a joy to see the smiles, high-fives, and true sportsmanship that make this event so special. 🏅💙
We were grateful to have incredible support from across the community — local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, mascots, cheer teams, local softball teams, and so many volunteers all came together to lift up our athletes and make this day one to remember.
A massive thank you goes out to Courtney Mitchell, who works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure every detail is taken care of. Her passion and dedication are a huge part of what makes this event run so smoothly every year.
We’re so proud to be a part of something that truly brings people together and showcases what we can do when we all work together.

Shoutout to Mrs. Reed for keeping the April Fools' spirit alive with some very important 'state-mandated' drills today! 🌊😆
First up: Flood Awareness Training—because apparently, the Texas Legislature thinks we need to be extra prepared! Students practiced removing their shoes, rolling up their pants, crouching on their chairs, propping their feet on desks, perfecting their swimming strokes, and—if all else failed—yelling APRIL FOOLS!
Then came the Google Earth Flyover Setup—at precisely 1:57 pm, students took to the parking lot to wave, jump, stare dramatically at the sky, and even spell out 'CV' for their big debut on Google Earth. Because if you're not featured from space, did it even happen?
Thanks for the laughs, Mrs. Reed! Teacher prank level: Expert. 😂👏

Today, Mrs. Vergauwen's freshmen Honors class had the opportunity to apply real-world truth in regard to their novel study, The Book Thief by visiting the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. They were silent as they heard real-life testimony from Holocaust survivors. Some were moved to tears. At the end of the day, they all took a piece of what they learned home with them.
"When children have the opportunity to apply what they read in the classroom to historical fact, a different kind of learning occurs. Today, these young adults had the opportunity to experience, through historical documentation, what Humanity truly means. We teach our children to "be kind no matter the background of someone who is different from you." Unless we are confronted with the realities of what "separateness" means to those who choose to separate us, there is little understanding. Today, the students asked - out loud - in the middle of the exhibit - WHY? For that reason alone, it was a successful day."
These students will be world changers! 🌎
